My First Trip to High Point Market
Since traveling down to High Point Market back in April, I’ve honestly been up to my eyeballs in design projects. Not that I’m complaining or anything, but it’s been a minute! If you follow me on Instagram, you know that we recently finalized our cross country move for next month and I’ve decided to take a small hiatus from projects until then. So with this extra time of mine, I’m excited to share my first experience at High Point with you all!
But first – what is High Point Market? It’s known as “Fashion Week” for Home Furnishings and is the largest show of its kind…in the world. The show is held twice a year and spans 180 buildings and over 11.5 million square feet of glorious showroom space! As the most well attended show in the industry, it’s the perfect place to meet people from the media, manufacturers, vendors, and designers from all over the world.
When it comes to unique products in a range of price points and getting a leg up on industry trends, High Point Market is where it’s at. As the saying goes, “If you can’t find it at High Point, you can’t find it anywhere”. As a newer member of the industry, I knew right away that I had to book a ticket down there. And I’m so glad I did.
My goals for this trip were to 1) connect with 5 solid vendors to work with moving forward, 2) attend as many educational sessions as possible and 3) make new peer connections for mutual support. Although I could have easily spent an additional week down there, I feel confident in saying that I accomplished all of my goals…and then some. If I have any advice to give to others looking to attend, it is 1) bring TWO portable phone chargers and 2) wear comfortable shoes. Trust me. There’s just so much to see.
Here are a few snapshots from my trip:
The showrooms were awe-inspiring.
I enjoyed several educational sessions – including this panel of successful business owners.
It was so much fun to network with so many other successful creatives!
I met one of my favorite podcasters, Luann Nigara, of A Well Designed Business.
And let’s not forget The Property Brothers were in town to promote their new furnishings line!
Visiting High Point was a life-changing experience – not only professionally, but personally as well. I was positively blown away. The service and offerings were unmatched, High Point and its surrounding cities were stunning, and I absolutely cannot wait to return in the fall.
